            The Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center is proud to once again sponsor a study trip to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum for educators. 

October 21-22^nd, 2011

                                                                       Annual Teachers Trip to the USHMM in D.C.

The purpose of this trip is to give participants a broad view of the Holocaust, which will enable them to better teach this state-mandated subject. The trip is designed especially for new teachers or teachers new to the subject.

The trip will Leave Manhattanville College, Purchase NY, Friday morning October 21^st

Return Manhattanville College, Purchase NY, Saturday evening October 22^nd

 In Service Hours Available

 Trip will include:

• Memorial Tours: Lincoln, Vietnam, Korea, FDR and WW II.
• Orientation-Teaching the Holocaust using the Museum’s resources.
• Visit to the Museum includes:Permanent Exhibit and Anti Semitism Exhibit.
• Use of film in teaching the Holocaust.

This is a unique opportunity for Social Studies and Language Arts teachers to gain knowledge and comfort to deal with this difficult and mandated subject with their students.  On the bus each way there is discussion led by master teachers on how to use the Museum as a resource, guidelines for teaching the Holocaust, and the use of film in teaching the Holocaust.  On Saturday participants spend the day at the museum.
